OSHA will hold its annual Safe + Sound Week this year from August 15–22. This nationwide event is held each August to recognize the successes of workplace health and safety programs, and offers information and ideas on how to keep America’s workers safe. Additionally, OSHA hopes the program will encourage companies to initiate safety and health programs, if they haven’t already, or energize existing ones. As for who can participate? Anyone. Literally, all organizations looking for an opportunity to recognize their commitment to safety are welcome. In fact, in 2021, more than 5,300 businesses helped to raise awareness about workers’ health and safety.
And participation couldn’t be easier: First you register, next you identify activities and events to plan and promote for your workplace or community, and finally, after you’ve completed your events, you can download a certificate and virtual challenge coin to recognize your organization.
With Safe + Sound Week just days away, did you know that, as an NBIS policyholder, you and your employees can participate in a variety of courses designed to enhance the safety culture within your organization?
Available NBIS courses include: Crane Safety in Construction, Aerial Lifts in Industrial and Construction, ELD Basics, Cargo Securement, Fall Protection, Forklift Safety, Safe Lifting in Construction Environments, Lock Out/Tag Out, and more. The best part about taking advantage of this opportunity is that you and your employees can train anytime/anywhere with a secure login, you can track completion and success rates, you can assign courses based on importance, and even benefit from customized training.
At the end of the day, having a construction safety program that you know and follow is great, but it isn’t enough. You also need the right safety culture, as well as people familiar with OSHA regulations, workplace safety issues (like slips, falls, and PPE), and rigging safety.
Companies across the US are adding OSHA’s Safe + Sound Week to their regularly scheduled safety meetings during the month of August. If you have questions, our Risk Management team is ready to review which safety programs are a perfect fit for you and your business at 877-860-RMSS.
